Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of transformational leadership style on employee motivation and performance at PT PELNI Ambon Branch. The method used is a quantitative approach with descriptive and explanatory research types. Data was collected through a questionnaire given to 100 employees selected using a simple random sampling technique. The variables studied include transformational leadership style as an independent variable, employee motivation as a mediating variable, and employee performance as a dependent variable. The research results show that the transformational leadership style has a positive and significant effect on employee motivation, which in turn influences employee performance positively. Mediation tests reveal that motivation acts as a mediator between transformational leadership style and employee performance. This research concludes that to improve employee performance, organizations need to develop a transformational leadership style that is able to motivate and empower employees effectively. The results of this research contribute to the development of leadership and human resource management theories in the context of shipping companies.
